What does my AeroGarden Grow? Pretty much anything…

So I wanted to give you a heads up to let you know how my own AeroGarden’s are doing. I replanted them about 3 1/2 weeks ago…and so far, they are growing incredibly well!

There are a few things that I’ve done differently for these AeroGarden plantings…and I used a secret weapon – which has been absolutely phenominal! Here is my current setup:

I’m using the AeroGarden Pro200 (which I just bought from www.iGardenShoppe.com) – the AeroGarden Pro200 is by far the best one out there. Here is what I have planted in my Pro200 AeroGarden

- I am using the Master Gardener AeroGarden Seed Kit
- Napolitano Basil - This basil has HUGE curly leaves and has an incredible flavor!
- Large Leaf Italian Basil - Gorgeous traditional basil with great flavor (buy from Park Seed…click here.)
- Salad Bowl & Little Gems Buttercrunch Lettuce – These have been AWESOME so far! (buy from Park Seed…click here.)
- Cherry Swizzle Zinnias & Moonstruck Marigolds (Haven’t bloomed yet…but they are close! I am super excited to see these!) (buy from Park Seed…click here.)

I got most of these seeds from Park Seed (I have never been dissappointed with them – and they have a TON of awesome seeds!)

I am also using the new AeroGarden 3 (mini AeroGarden)…so far it’s growth is much slower than the AeroGarden Pro200, but it is still doing pretty well. I’ll review the AeroGarden 3 in more detail after I finish the current planting.

Where can you buy COOL SEEDS for your AeroGarden?

Okay, we’ve spent a lot of time with our AeroGardens here at AeroGarden Reviews .org and we like to think we are getting pretty good at using them (afterall, who wouldn’t be after 6 personal AeroGardens being used for 2+ years . We hope you have learned from our sucesses and mistakes. We frequently get emails from readers who ask where to get good quality seeds that they can use in their AeroGarden Master Gardener Kit (the seed kit that allows you to grow your own seeds instead of the pre-packaged ones) ***Side note, if you don’t know anything about the Master Gardener Seed Kit for your AeroGarden, click here for more information. If you have ever used generic seeds from a Home Depot or other garden supply store, chances are that you’ve not had the greatest success. The problem with many of these seeds, is that they are “leftovers” that have been sitting on the shelfs for months, maybe even years! Don’t waste your time with these types of stores.If you really want to experience great success with growing your own fun and unique plants in the AeroGarden, such as the “Easter Egg Plant” etc…you need to get them from bonified “Seed Professionals”. There are many different places and seed suppliers online, however we have purchased the majority of the seeds we use in the AeroGarden, as well as our outdoor garden from a company called Park Seed Co. (www.parkseed.com).

These guys are the masters when it comes to any kind of seed you need! Basically every seed that exists, and anything you can think of, they have it, and you can be sure that their seeds are top quality and as fresh as they come. We have never had a problem with ANY of the seeds we have purchased from Park’s. One of a kind plants and AeroGarden Reviews

Okay, so if you haven’t noticed by now I love my AeroGardens. In fact, you could say that I am basically an AeroGarden Fanatic Even though I love my AeroGardens I also love real, down and dirty gardening (vegetable gardening that is…). Recently I received a catalog from Park’s Seed. The catalog is filled with incredible options for seeds and live plants that you can order directly from them. Some of the seeds they carry are very, very unique. I ordered several different kinds of seeds, and after having some trouble starting them indoors in a seed starter tray, I decided to try to grow them in my AeroGarden and post the information on AeroGarden Reviews. Here are the two unique seeds that I have started and am having good success with so far:

1) The Easter Egg Plant

Isn’t this thing cool?!? So far my plant is about 2 inches tall and has good color, so I hope it will do well. I’ll post pictures as I go.

2) Stevia (Sweet Leaf) : Stevia is a natural sugar alternative that is actually mcuh sweeter than real sugar. All you have to do is add a leaf to whatever it is you want to sweeten. I’d never grown this herb before, but it seems to be doing well also.

Growin' my own: AeroGarden Expirimentation-sation

Ever since I bought my first AeroGarden, I wanted to grow my own seeds in it. I realize of course that stuff like corn, or full size tomatoes etc. are much to large for the unit, but I wanted to try some other seeds to see if it would work.

In this category, I will keep you posted as to what I find that works and what doesn’t.

Here is what I planted in my first planting:

Salad Bowl Leaf Lettuce
Romanesco Broccoli/Cauliflower
Baby Spinach
Lima Beans
Sugar Snap Peas
Yellow Crookneck Squash
Zucchini

I just planted these today, so I will keep everyone posted as to how they do with photos etc.

Progress Made in the AeroGarden Expirimentation – October 5, 2007

So far, the only things growing of the items planted are the Romanesco Cauliflower/Broccoli and the Leaf and Salad bowl lettuce. Both are growing quite well actually. Nothing else is even showing a remote sign of growth…so I will keep everyone posted. Here are some photos…
